Chiefs WR Chris Conley says his role is a little different now that Jeremy Maclin is gone

KC Chiefs WR Chris Conley said Jeremy Maclin called him to let him know the Chiefs were going to cut him. Maclin also told Conley that they need to take what they learned from him to prepare to take the next step.

Conley tried to downplay how much things would change with the loss of Maclin from their receiver room - “Not much is different” - but he did admit that his role would be a little different now.

“I’m moving around to some different spots, doing some different things that Jeremy was doing,” Conley said via quotes from the Chiefs. “Other than that, things are really the same. I think we’re getting on a good page with our quarterbacks and our offense is moving at a good tempo.”

I’m very curious to see the kind of season Conley puts in. I can’t get a great gauge on him and his ceiling as a receiver. Physically, he’s what the Chiefs want. But I just can’t think of any moment last year where I thought Conley took over the game and dominated. He’s gone from 199 receiving yards in year one to 530 in year two. The stage is all primed for him to have a big jump.
