We asked Kansas City Chiefs fans whether they were OK with Friday night’s decision to cut Jeremy Maclin and the majority were not. Despite saving all that precious cap room, Chiefs fans were mostly not OK with this June surprise.

This was a pretty big shocker. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, who drafted Maclin in Philly, went to his wedding just a few weeks ago. And now he’s cut. The Chiefs released these statements on Friday night:
Chiefs GM John Dorsey: “I’d like to thank Jeremy for his effort and dedication the past two seasons. I have great respect for all players, which makes decisions like these very difficult, but we felt it was in the best interest of our club moving forward to part ways at this time. We wish Jeremy the best as he continues his career.”
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid: “These decisions are never easy, especially with a player like Jeremy who I’ve grown close with on and off the football field over the years. I have a lot of respect for the way he goes about his business and how he handles himself as a professional. I wish him the best of luck moving forward.”
Here’s more of the reaction to the move:
So you're saying spending 35,000 Chiefs rewards points on this last week was a bad idea? pic.twitter.com/kWokqefTIN

Maclin finishes his #Chiefs career averaging 60 receiving yds/gm. Third best mark in franchise history behind Derrick Alexander & D-Bowe.

Jeremy Maclin missed 4 games last season and Travis Kelce went over 100 yards in 3 of them.

Have to think #Chiefs thought this one over long and hard & end of the day they decided to save the money.

Maclin consistently got first-team reps in OTA practices, though there was some rotation among the skill players. Looked spry to me

Maclin was an unbelievable competitor and a great leader as well. There is no one else who can replace that role in the WR room right now.

Between trading up for Mahomes & cutting Maclin the Chiefs aren't exactly "all in" for 2017 despite being close last year.
