Andy Reid will not be taking over as Chiefs GM

This is good news in a day of not so good news. Andy Reid will NOT be the Kansas City Chiefs next GM after they fired John Dorsey. This according to the KC Star’s Sam Mellinger who reports the Chiefs are indeed looking for a Dorsey replacement.

Frankly, this is good news. A head coach and a GM are two different jobs that two different people should fill, not one person. Reid did that in Philly and had some struggles with it. Reid has repeatedly said here in Kansas City that he loves being the coach and not a front office guy.

Who will be the Chiefs next GM? I threw out a few ideas in this post. To me, an internal promotion for someone like Brett Veach makes the most sense considering it’s so late. You should also focus on folks who have a connection to Andy Reid. That’s usually the way these things go.
