Stunner: John Dorsey, Chiefs are parting ways

WOW! The Kansas City Chiefs and GM John Dorsey are parting ways. This is not a joke. It’s real. The Chiefs have confirmed it with a press release just minutes after announcing an extension for head coach Andy Reid. It was believed Dorsey had one more year left on his contract.

“I notified John that we would not be extending his contract beyond the 2017 season, and after consideration, we felt it was in his best interests and the best interests of the team to part ways now,” Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said in a statement.. “This decision, while a difficult one, allows John to pursue other opportunities as we continue our preparations for the upcoming season and the seasons to come. My family and I sincerely appreciate John’s work over the last four-and-a-half years, and we wish him nothing but the best in the future.”

There were some rumors linking him to the Packers GM job sometime in the future but Dorsey seemed to shoot that down earlier this year .

“I want to thank Clark, the Hunt family and the Chiefs fans for the opportunity to be a part of Chiefs Kingdom over the last four seasons,” Dorsey said in a statement. “I believe this team is well positioned for the future and I wish Coach Reid, the players and the entire organization all the best.”

I talked to Dorsey recently and he was packing up to head out for vacation. I guess I just thought he would be coming back from that vacation. This is shocking. More to come but weigh in here...
