The best special teams units include Tyreek Hill and Tamarick Vanover but no Dante Hall

Football Outsiders ranked the top offenses of the last 30 years and three Chiefs teams landed on that list. They also ranked the top defenses of the last 30 years and no Chiefs teams were on that list.

For special teams, the Chiefs have three teams on the list. Football Outsiders is using their stat DVOA to determine the best special teams units in the last 30 years and these three Chiefs teams popped up on the list:

26. 2013 Chiefs

25. 2016 Chiefs

20. 1995 Chiefs

A few reactions:

  • Tyreek Hill can be thanked for that 2016 season.
  • The 2013 Chiefs had Dexter McCluster with two punt return scores as well as kick return scores from Quintin Demps and Knile Davis.
  • The 1995 Chiefs was Tamarick Vanover, who had three total touchdowns and led the league in punt returns in 1995, his rookie year.
  • Dave Toub, man. He shows up on this list four other teams which means he has six of the best special teams units of all time. Amazing.
  • No Dante Hall teams on here? I’m a little surprised the 2003 Chiefs weren’t on there.
