Jeremy Maclin tells Adam Schefter he played with a torn groin last year

It did look like Jeremy Maclin lost a step last year for the Kansas City Chiefs ... because he played with a torn groin. That’s what Maclin revealed to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on his podcast when asked about people who say he lost a step.

“I tore my groin last year,” Maclin said on the podcast. “If I’m supposed to be just as fast with a torn groin then, I mean, more power to them. I guess they have to wait and see. I don’t really have anything else to say about that. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. I’ll still be able to get open, I’ll still be able to make big plays.”

We didn’t know he had a torn groin specifically but we know the groin was a problem because he missed about a month.

“I came back and I was able to play but I can’t sit up here and tell you I was 100 percent. I’m also not going to sit up here and make excuses. At the end of the day I didn’t play as well as I could have last year and that’s ultimately what happened.”

I know many Chiefs fans don’t care about Maclin at this point because the move is done but this gives more context to the situation. It seems the Chiefs are betting that Maclin won’t completely get his legs back after that injury. The good thing about the NFL is someone will be proven right or wrong this fall.
