Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, Kareem Hunt have the same rookie of the year odds

Bovada has released odds on the 2017 NFL rookie of the year and the Kansas City Chiefs have not one but two players mentioned: QB Patrick Mahomes and RB Kareem Hunt. They’re both at 20/1 odds to win.

Mahomes would be much higher on this list if anyone expected him to play. He has the best supporting cast of any rookie quarterback. Alas, the Chiefs are hoping he doesn’t have to play this year. The scenario where he does would involve an injury to Alex Smith and perhaps even Tyler Bray, who is battling for the No. 2 job.

The scenario where Hunt wins rookie of the year could involve an injury to Spencer Ware or it could involve him balling out. We assume the backs will split carries but if Hunt comes out of the gate on another level then the Chiefs will ride him and he can put up big numbers in this offense. That’s a lot of what ifs though.

Who ya got to win this award?
