Tyreek Hill will return punts, not kicks for Chiefs this year

Tyreek Hill will not be returning kicks in 2017, according to Chiefs special teams coach Dave Toub.

We can’t have him on kickoff return,” Toub told reporters this week.

Tyreek really wasn’t on kick return very often in the second half of last season. He had 14 kick returns last year compared to 39 punt returns. He returned just two kicks in the final five games of the season.

The Chiefs DO like him as their punt returner where he can be just as dangerous so he’ll keep doing that. I guess if I had to decide between the two I would rather him be on punt return because he would get more opportunities there. If they keep punting to him. Remember when the Raiders punter did kick it to him when when everyone in the stadium knew he was going to take it back for six (and he did).

Chiefs coach Andy Reid talked earlier this week about balancing the special teams and his regular snaps on offense. He cited DeSean Jackson and Brian Westbrook as two of his guys who have done both.
