The Kansas City Chiefs have announced a slew of roster moves now that their rookie minicamp is over. The Chiefs signed six players and cut seven players.
Signed
DL Ricky Ali’ifua
TE Emanuel Byrd
CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste
P Will Monday
RB Devine Redding
WR Jamari Staples
The name that stands out here is Jean-Baptiste who was a second round pick by the Saints in 2014. He has the height the Chiefs like at 6’3 but has flamed out to this point. It would be great if the Chiefs picked up a big corner they liked out of nowhere. We’ll see how it goes. He has a long road ahead.
The punter is kind of an odd signing but the Chiefs may just be taking a look. They need a punter to conduct practices so if Dustin Colquitt isn’t participating for some reason then they would need someone. That’s my best guess there.
Cut
CB Vernon Harris
WR Anas Hasic
TE Wyatt Houston
DL Cory Johnson
FB Will Ratelle
RB Darrin Reaves
RB Kelvin Taylor
A couple of names stand out here. Reaves was a talented player but was injured so the Chiefs moved on from him. Taylor is the son of former NFL great Fred Taylor. He was signed earlier this week and didn’t last long.
