The Kansas City Chiefs made some front office moves over the holiday weekend. They replaced a couple of the front offices members they lost a few weeks ago and promoted a few others. The Chiefs now have a new director of pro personnel in Tim Terry, a former Packers exec, and a new director of college scouting in Ryan Poles.
We never really get to know the rest of the front office outside of the GM. Chris Ballard was a recent exception as we did know his name a little bit because he was interviewing for GM jobs.
Here’s the Chiefs press release on the moves:
The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Friday that the club has made personnel staff changes, including hiring Chris Shea as the club’s Salary Cap and Legal Executive and Tim Terry as the team’s Director of Pro Personnel. The Chiefs have promoted Brandt Tilis to Director of Football Administration, Ryan Poles to Director of College Scouting, Ryne Nutt to Assistant Director of College Scouting, Dan Zegers to College Scouting Coordinator and Jim Noel will serve as a Pro Scout. Daniel Ricci has been added as a Player Personnel Assistant.
Shea originally entered the NFL personnel ranks as Pro Personnel Assistant with the New York Jets in 2000. Now in his 19th NFL season, he joins the Chiefs after stints with Carolina, New York (Jets), Dallas, the NFL office, Miami and most recently, Philadelphia.
Terry is entering his 14th NFL season after spending the last 13 years in the Green Bay Packers personnel department. He most recently served as the club’s Assistant Director of Pro Personnel. Terry originally entered the NFL as an undrafted linebacker for the Bengals in 1997. He had a seven-year playing career that included a stop in Kansas City in 1999.
Tilis originally joined the Chiefs in 2010 as the club’s Salary Cap/Contract Analyst before being promoted in 2014 to Director of Salary Cap and Football Operations Analytics. Prior to joining the Chiefs, Tilis spent more than two years working in the Labor Operations Department for the National Football League Management Council. Tilis’ first stop in the NFL was as a Football Operations intern for the Oakland Raiders.
Poles joined the Chiefs in 2009 as the club’s Player Personnel Assistant. Over the last eight seasons with the team, he’s climbed the ranks, most recently serving as the club’s College Scouting Coordinator. Prior to joining the Chiefs, he worked at his alma mater, Boston College, where he was also a member of the football team. Poles signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2008.
Nutt enters his eighth season with the club, originally joining the team in 2010 as a Scouting Assistant. He spent the last five seasons as an Area Scout, covering the West, Northwest and Northeast parts of the country. Prior to joining the Chiefs, he spent one season coaching the tight ends at Wagner College and was the Defensive Line Coach at Iona. He played collegiately at Central Connecticut State.
Zegers originally joined the Chiefs in 2013 as a Player Personnel Assistant. He worked for the Green Bay Packers for nine seasons as an Equipment Assistant and then as a Scouting Assistant. Zegers graduated from St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin.
Noel enters his third season with the Chiefs after previously serving as the club’s Scouting Assistant. Prior to his stint with the Chiefs he served as a Volunteer Assistant Tight Ends Coach at Temple University. He also assisted the school’s football team with recruiting and quality control. Noel played defensive back at Boston College.
Ricci joined the Chiefs in 2014 as an intern in the Communications Department. He spent the 2015 season with the Minnesota Vikings in the same capacity before traveling to Los Angeles to work for Next Gen Stats in 2016. Prior to joining the Chiefs, he played running back at Macalester College.
