A look at the Chiefs draft pick retention over the last few years

Cool piece of data from Jeff Hunter over at Buffalo Rumblings on draft pick retention. This chart below shows the percentage of draft picks the team has retained each year.

For example, the 2016 draft has the Chiefs at 77.8 percent which means they kept seven of their nine draft picks (Can you name them? Answer is at the bottom).

The total data number is hard to gain much because there have been two different regimes in that time. The Chiefs have zero members of their 2012 draft class the year before GM John Dorsey and Andy Reid arrived.

Here’s how many picks remain from each class (not counting this year):

2013: 2/8

2014: 5/6 (the Chiefs sixth round picks this year have over 60 combined starts)

2015: 7/9

2016: 7/9
