Chiefs cut LB Khaseem Greene after he’s indicted on weapons charges

The Kansas City Chiefs made a bunch of roster moves yesterday afternoon and a few hours after announcing those they announcer another cut, LB Khaseem Greene. This one is noteworthy because he was just indicted on weapons charges in New Jersey, according to NJ.com.

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker and former Rutgers football star Khaseem Greene on Tuesday was indicted in connection with a shooting outside an Elizabeth nightclub last December.

Surveillance video shows Greene, 28, handing a gun to another man outside Allstar Night Club on Dec. 3, shortly before that man fired the gun into a crowd of people, according to court records. It was unclear whether anyone was injured.

The co-defendant, Jason C. Sanders, was arrested Dec. 30 and gave a voluntary statement admitting to the shooting and saying Greene had handed him the gun, the court records state.

Greene’s chances of making the roster probably weren’t great but that point is now moot because he’s gone. The Chiefs made the right decision here. Greene was a 2013 third round pick by the Bears but has been an NFL journeyman since with spots on multiple teams. Here’s a story on him from about a month ago that looks pretty odd now.
