Arrowheadlines: Chiefs make roster moves including former Saints 2nd rounder

Former Rutgers football star indicted for role in Elizabeth shooting | NJ.com

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker and former Rutgers football star Khaseem Greene on Tuesday was indicted in connection with a shooting outside an Elizabeth nightclub last December.

Surveillance video shows Greene, 28, handing a gun to another man outside Allstar Night Club on Dec. 3, shortly before that man fired the gun into a crowd of people, according to court records. It was unclear whether anyone was injured.

The co-defendant, Jason C. Sanders, was arrested Dec. 30 and gave a voluntary statement admitting to the shooting and saying Greene had handed him the gun, the court records state.

Green has not appeared in a regular season game since 2014 with the Chicago Bears. He was a third round pick by the Bears in 2013 and appeared in 25 games with six starts over two seasons before being released in May, 2015. Greene has been on the roster of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Detroit Lions and Chiefs over the last three years without earning a spot on their regular season rosters.

The Kansas City Chiefs announced roster moves on Tuesday. The team has signed six free agents and waived seven players.

Signed by the Chiefs: defensive lineman Ricky Ali-ifua, tight end Emanuel Byrd, cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptist, punter Will Monday, running back Devine Redding and wide receiver Jamari Staples.

Waived by the team: cornerback Vernon Harris, wide receiver Anas Hasic, tight end Wyatt Houston, defensive lineman Cory Johnson, fullback Will Ratelle, running back Kelvin Taylor and Darrin Reaves, who was waived with an injury settlement.

The Saints drafted the former Nebraska cornerback in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft (58th overall). But he played just 19 snaps his rookie season and was cut the following year, a startling admission of a wasted pick.

This time it was linebacker Justin Houston, who is the second Chief to make it after quarterback Alex Smith at No. 81.

Houston came in at No. 76, which marks his fifth-straight appearance on the list.
