We continue our series looking at what anonymous scouts said about the Kansas City Chiefs draft picks and we get to third rounder RB Kareem Hunt out of Toledo. These are published by Bob McGinn in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel each year before the draft and they’re one of the best pre-draft scouting reports.
This first comment in this report will make you feel good about Hunt.
“If he was playing at one of the SEC schools the whole world would know about him,” said one scout. “I didn’t have the guts to give him higher than a third-round grade given the competition. Seldom tackled by the first man. Effective receiver out of the backfield. Excellent balance.”
The balance is what GM John Dorsey kept mentioning. He has incredible balance which is important for a running back. A couple of the comments mentioned his weight, which Dorsey did not think was an issue.
“No, not at all,” Dorsey said when asked if he was worried about Hunt going from the 230s last year to 206 at the Senior Bowl. “I’m sure you guys will make a big deal out of it, but I think once you get ingrained in this program and when Barry [Rubin] and his staff get there that they’ll get him tightened up. He’ll be ready to roll.”
