The Kansas City Chiefs won't have a 2018 first round pick, at least as of now. The Chiefs traded it away to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for their 10th overall pick in this draft which went to Patrick Mahomes. SB Nation's Dan Kadar has a 2018 NFL mock draft out and the Chiefs are unfortunately not included. Of course I love getting Mahomes but it will suck next year not having a first round pick. Who knows, maybe GM John Dorsey will trade up again?
Anyway, the 2018 draft is the year of the quarterback according to this mock draft. The first three picks are quarterbacks - USC QB Sam Darnold, UCLA QB Josh Rosen and Wyoming QB Josh Allen. There are six total quarterbacks in the draft. With the Chiefs pick, the Bills select the sixth and final first round QB, Washington State's Luke Falk.
These mocks make plenty of sense as you read them right now but next year they won't. Go back to last year's year-in-advance mock draft. Deshaun Watson and Brad Kaaya are the top two picks. Kaaya went in the sixth round this year! Chad Kelly was Mr. Irrelevant in this year's draft; he was the 7th overall pick in last year's mock. The Chiefs took UCLA OT Conor McDermott last year. That was before they got Mitch Schwartz, rendering OT a useless pick. McDermott was the 211th pick this year, by the way.
