How the Broncos helped the Chiefs land Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs just had a solid draft. They finally drafted a quarterback in the first round for the first time in the last 34 years. I’m very excited.

With that said, it’s time to talk a little trash on the Broncos. Why? Because it’s always time to poke Denver.

Let’s go back to last year. Memphis QB Paxton Lynch was on the board in the first round. The Chiefs reportedly were trying to move up to draft Lynch (according to Lynch’s agent so take it for what it’s worth). However, before the Chiefs could get Lynch the Broncos traded up two spots ahead of KC to land Lynch.

So the Chiefs didn’t get a quarterback last year, they waited another year and traded up for Mahomes this year.

Chiefs fans felt bummed at the time, especially because we wanted the first round quarterback. Looking back, I’m glad the Chiefs waited a year and got Mahomes. It cost a little more but I like Mahomes’ upside over Lynch at this point. The Chiefs are in a better spot.

So, thank you, Denver.
