Chiefs draft results: S Leon McQuay III is the sixth round pick

With their sixth round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft the Kansas City Chiefs select S Leon McQuay III out of USC. I don’t know much about him as we’re at the 218th pick in this draft.

SB Nation’s USC blog Conquest Chronicles wrote about him here and pointed out McQuay’s grandfather played in the NFL in the 70s.

Here’s what his NFL dot com profile says:

McQuay isn't an easy player to slot. He has the athleticism, ball skills and speed to play the high safety role, but his inconsistent field awareness is a concern. McQuay's issues with missed and broken tackles open concerns about playing him near the line of scrimmage. If he tests well, teams may see McQuay has a hybrid corner/safety who can compete for a spot as a big cover defender in sub-packages.
