Chiefs trade James O’Shaughnessy to Patriots, pick up 5th round pick

The Kansas City Chiefs have made a trade! Andy Reid loves trading with Bill Belichick.

The Chiefs sent TE James O’Shaughnessy and one of their sixth round picks to the New England Patriots for their fifth round pick. The Chiefs now have three fifth round picks and a sixth.

Here’s what our Patriots blog, Pats Pulpit, is saying about the trade.

The O’Shaughnessy trade isn’t a total stunner I guess. He was a 2015 fifth round pick who was solidly behind Travis Kelce and Demetrius Harris at tight end. Ross Travis was another tight end competing and now they have Gavin Escobar. Too many cooks in the kitchen.

The Chiefs have a deep roster so they’ll have to choose players where they have needs and they can make the roster and contribute to the team.

The Chiefs play the Patriots in the season opener, by the way. If O’Shaughnessy scores a touchdown ...
