The Kansas City Chiefs have traded with the Buffalo Bills to the No. 10 spot in the NFL Draft to select Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes. This is the first time the Chiefs have drafted a quarterback in the first round since Todd Blackledge in 1983. FINALLY!!!
Mahomes is MNChiefsfan’s No. 1 ranked quarterback. Today is a good day.
The Chiefs gave up this year’s first round pick, a third round pick and next year’s first round pick in order to move up to No. 10.
It’s a significant price - especially next year’s first - but the Chiefs get the most important position in sports - a quarterback. The Chiefs now have someone to put behind Alex Smith and mentor. Alex has two years left on his deal so Mahomes could sit for a year or even two before he has to play. This is an ideal situation for a quarterback.
More details coming...
Maybe in 34 years I'll be telling my kids about the time the Chiefs drafted a QB in the first ... pic.twitter.com/9ZghXpo4ns
