Chiefs GM John Dorsey spoke to the KC media today and he said one thing that stood out to me. He was asked about the running back situation and said that he liked Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West.
In regards to free-agent acquisition CJ Spiller: “I saw the quickness and the speed that he had had in college,” Dorsey said. “He was nursing a knee injury when he was with the Saints then he went to Seattle and I saw that twitch back in him that he had had earlier in his career.”
A few people said to me they forgot the Chiefs signed Spiller. I’ll admit I almost did, too. He could be a total bust or he could rejuvenate his career. I’ll say, it would be unusual if a 29-year old back got faster as he got older but maybe he has a point about the injury thing. We’ll see how it turns out.
