The NFL world wants to know who Patrick Mahomes is. The Texas Tech quarterback is viewed as a first or second rounder in the 2017 NFL Draft and it’s clear teams are doing their homework on him as he has 18 visits and workouts this draft season.

No word if the Chiefs are among those teams but it’s not a bad guess that they are. Quarterbacks are such a premium position that teams are going to be doing the most work on them anyway. What makes Mahomes unique is the offense at Texas Tech from which he comes. This isn’t a typical pro-style offense (what is pro-style anymore?) with a long line of successful quarterbacks who have played in it. He’ll need some work.
Aaron Wilson has a list of some of the teams he’s met with. The Saints are one such team drafting 11th and 42nd overall. The Chargers are drafting seventh and 38th. The Cardinals are often connected to a quarterback with the 13th pick but they also pick 45th. The Chiefs are ahead of all those teams early in the second round. The team that worries me the most is the Texans, who are drafting 25th. (Please sign Romo, Texans)
