Arrowheadlines: Andy Reid's up-tempo style, more Tyreek Hill

Chiefs need to make better use of deep roster, particularly in playoffs | ESPN

The problem for the Chiefs is the postseason, where they are 1-3 under Reid. The deep roster was essential last year when the Chiefs went parts of the season without key players such as Charles, Johnson and Justin Houston. It didn’t help them in the playoffs, where after a first-round bye they scored only 16 points in a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Kansas City Chiefs expecting more from Tyreek Hill this season | ESPN

"Growing Tyreek in the offense will be important," coach Andy Reid told reporters this week at the NFL meetings in Phoenix. Hill played 401 offensive snaps last season, or less than 40 percent of Kansas City’s plays. But the Chiefs came to rely on him more as the season progressed. You have to do everything fast in practice. Move with urgency in each drill and between drills. No coasting. Ever. Rivera learned that as an assistant coach on Reid's Philadelphia Eagles staff and has employed it as head coach of the Carolina Panthers. Sean McDermott absorbed the same lesson during the 12 seasons he spent with the Eagles, including five with Rivera, for whom he would serve as defensive coordinator in Carolina the past six years.

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid comments on Raiders' move to Las Vegas | The Kansas City Star

"There is something special about Oakland — I’m not going to tell you different," Reid said at the NFL’s annual meeting. "The fans are passionate. You hate seeing the fans losing. I said that with the Chargers. You hate seeing San Diego lose the Chargers."
