Bennie Logan should help the Chiefs pass rushers, too

New, comments

Terez Paylor has a new podcast up over at the Kansas City Star you should check out. Terez talks to Eagles reporter Turron Davenport about what the Chiefs are getting in former Eagles defensive lineman Bennie Logan. They get into a little bit of the technical stuff on where he could play so if you’re into that definitely give it a listen.

I pulled out this quote from Davenport talking about how Logan can help the Chiefs pass rushers, which is something that’s desperately needed.

“He’s 100 percent a run stuffer,” Davenport said. “He’s a guy that gets that quick penetration and he will blow runs up. He will get you tackles for losses. Basically what he does is he makes plays behind the line of scrimmage and that’s what you want ...

“One thing I can tell you is that Bennie Logan is a disruptor. He’s a disruptive player who can get that quick inside penetration and he may not get the sacks but he’ll flush the quarterback out to a guy like a Dee Ford coming off the edge or a Tamba Hali coming off the edge. He’s going to make those guys better because of what he’s able to do up front.”

I highlighted this part because the one thing the Chiefs defense is missing above all else is their pass rush. Justin Houston coming back will absolutely help as I believe he can be the same guy he was (or I could be wrong). Dee Ford hasn’t been as consistent but another 10 sacks this year would help. We’ll see what Tamba can offer this year but I’m optimistic the Chiefs pass rush as a whole is better in 2017 than it was in 2016.
