Just yesterday I said I wouldn’t be surprised if the Kansas City Chiefs brought defensive lineman Jarvis Jenkins back. As it turns out, I got it right for once. The Chiefs are indeed bringing Jenkins back on a one-year deal, according to his agent.
Jenkins tweeted that he still had a sour taste in his mouth from January 15, the Chiefs playoff loss to the Steelers.
Jenkins, 28, was a nice addition to the depth of the Chiefs defensive line. He joined hte team in November. He won’t be playing 40 or 50 snaps most games but he did play 17 snaps in the Chiefs playoff loss to the Steelers. The Chiefs might need a little more out of him because I imagine not one player is going to replace Dontari Poe’s 800-900 snaps a season.
The other defensive line free agent to consider is Kendall Reyes. Like Jenkins, he was depth along the defensive line playing a similar number of snaps. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s back either.
