Today’s “Chiefs commit to Alex Smith in 2017” report is here

It’s almost a daily thing now. The Kansas City Chiefs say they’re committed to Alex Smith in 2017 and it’s reported all throughout Kansas City as if it’s a surprise.

I personally stopped being surprised when Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said Alex was their guy. Here’s what Chiefs GM John Dorsey said about it today...

“How strong of an endorsement can you have when the owner, the head coach and the general manager all say you’re the starter in 2017?” Dorsey asked.

Some people get worked up when they see this. It doesn’t really matter to me. What really matters is the Chiefs 2017 draft pick and identifying the quarterback will be here for the next 10 years. We know Alex’s time is running out. There seems to be momentum for the Chiefs to draft a quarterback fairly high this year. The Chiefs offensive line will be together for a few more years, the rookie can learn under Alex Smith and grow with a young Chiefs team. That’s what I’m looking forward to.

Outside of Romo, there’s no one the Chiefs could get this offseason that would be better than Alex. Draft. Your. Guy.
