Chiefs GM says 2017 NFL Draft is deep in these three positions

Kansas City Chiefs GM John Dorsey said at his Thursday NFL Combine press conference that this year’s draft is deep in three positions: wide receiver, running back and cornerback.

I almost wonder if Dorsey says that and then comes back and looks at our blogs and laughs at us for trying to figure out what that means. It’s hard to take anything specific from that but we’ll try.

The Chiefs could draft from each of those positions. Running back in particular is deep in the first round. It’s unusual to have so many potential first round backs.

Cornerback is a position the Chiefs should probably take each year. I keep seeing more and more bigger and physical corners the way the Chiefs like them.

Wide receiver isn’t an immediate need with Jeremy Maclin, Tyreek Hill and Chris Conley but they’ll keep adding to that group, maybe a later pick.
