Stories from the Kansas City Star and Chiefs.com say Travis Kelce had offseason shoulder surgery. Kelce will miss some offseason workouts, according to Chiefs coach Andy Reid, but should be ready for camp.
“He’ll probably miss some time throughout the offseason, but he’ll be ready, I believe, for camp,” Reid was quoted as saying by Terez Paylor.
He didn’t sound 100 percent sure that he would be ready for camp. This will be something to monitor. The Chiefs workouts start in April and will continue into June at which point they’ll have some time off before training camp, which typically begins in late July or early August.
Missing time is not ideal but Kelce has been in the offense for a few years now so he should know what’s going on there. The knock on Kelce early in his career was that microfracture surgery he had during his rookie season. He came back from that just fine as his numbers the past three years indicate and this is the only other big injury he’s had.
