The Kansas City Chiefs are on the verge of officially losing Dontari Poe. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk and others are reporting that Poe will be reunited with former Chiefs GM Scott Pioli in Atlanta.
Per source, Dontari Poe agrees to terms with Falcons.— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) March 16, 2017
Poe had four free agent visits so I’m very curious to see what kind of contract he got. (UPDATE: One year, $8 million which looks very similar to Logan’s deal) It was reported earlier that he could consider taking a one-year deal and trying again in free agency next year. No word yet on what type of deal he got from the Falcons. He also visited the Colts, Dolphins and Jaguars.
The Chiefs recently signed Bennie Logan as a Poe replacement. Logan is more of a run stuffer than a pass rusher but he should be an adequate replacement. Still, it will be tough to replace Poe with just one person because he was able to do so much.
I wish him the best of luck in Atlanta. I’m glad he’s in the NFC and I’m glad he’s going to a contender.
