Chiefs say Bennie Logan’s versatility will allow them flexibility

The Kansas City Chiefs have officially confirmed the signing of Bennie Logan. It’s been reported as a one-year, $8 million deal although the Chiefs didn’t confirm those numbers.

The Chiefs released a statement from GM John Dorsey who praised the versatility of Logan, who played with the Eagles the last four years.

“We’re excited to add Bennie to our defensive front,” Dorsey said. “He’s a versatile player whose presence in the middle will allow us flexibility along the line. He’ll be a very good addition to our defensive line room.”

Interesting word choice because I don’t think he’s as versatile as Dontari Poe, who could be a three down player if needed. Logan sounds like more of a true two-down nose tackle. That’s not a bad thing as the Chiefs have good depth along the defensive line but it is different from Poe, who was asked to probably do a little more.

If Logan can help the Chiefs run defense, which was not good last year, it will go a long way to making this a good signing.
