We’ve talked about Florida State RB Dalvin Cook before. Our MNChiefsfan loves him. I haven’t been that serious about the Chiefs and Cook because I figured he would be gone by the time the 27th pick got here.
Then he came out with a so-so Combine. His testing numbers didn’t show the explosive player that the tape shows. It’s the time of year when 40 times are apparently more important than several years of game film.
With Cook’s stock seemingly dropping - at least in the media - we’re starting to see more mock drafts like this one from Daniel Jeremiah, which sends Cook to KC with the 27th pick:
Cook is the perfect fit in Andy Reid's system, and he would be a tremendous value at this point in the draft. The Chiefs could then turn around and trade one of their current backs for an extra draft pick.
I don’t know about trading one of their current backs for a pick but if he’s there at 27 you have to think long and hard about it. He has a lot of skills that Andy Reid likes in a back. He would be a good value if he fell this far. The Chiefs have other needs and I know running back isn’t a premium position but I would still pull the trigger on him if the medical and background checks out.
