The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles have a weird recent history with quarterbacks. The Chiefs lost Chase Daniel to the Eagles last year and signed Nick Foles as their veteran backup. The Chiefs then lost Foles to the Eagles on Monday which puts Chase Daniel’s future in limbo.
According to ESPN, he’s in limbo no more - the Eagles will reportedly release Chase.
With the signing of Foles, Chase Daniel has asked the Eagles to release him and the team is expected to do so Monday, a source told ESPN's Adam Caplan.
The Eagles have been working to trade Daniel in recent days to a team that would benefit the veteran signal caller, but both sides felt the decision to release him now was mutually beneficial. The Eagles and Daniel's representatives will work on potentially adjusting his contract to benefit both parties.
Yes of course I would love to take Chase back in Kansas City. He’s a great backup quarterback that would make the Chiefs a better team. Having him and Alex Smith with a young quarterback? Sign me up.
Of course ... Chase is 30 years old. He probably wants to go someplace where he has a shot to play. I thought that would be Philly last year but the Eagles moved up for Carson Wentz and started him. Barring injury, he wouldn’t play in Kansas City and he’d probably want more than the little the Chiefs can afford at this point.
Update: If he wants to be a starter, I doubt he’s coming to Kansas City.
Chase Daniel tells me w release request from #eagles "Yes we did and it was mutual. I believe I'm a starter in this league" @SportsRadioWIP
