Nick Foles signs with Eagles, Chiefs in the market for a new backup QB

The Kansas City Chiefs will be without Nick Foles next year as the Philadelphia Eagles announced a two-year deal with him. The connection here is former Chiefs OC Doug Pederson, who is the Eagles head coach ...

There it is. I figured Foles would leave although it seemed the door was open for him to return. The Chiefs had an option on him for this season but declined it. That he now signed with the Eagles means the Chiefs could be in line for a compensatory pick. I doubt the money is much here as a backup quarterback so don’t expect a third round pick back.

I would’ve taken Foles back with the Chiefs. He’s a high-end backup with some upside. The Chiefs, however, are committed to Alex Smith. They have inexperienced Tyler Bray and Joel Stave behind him which means the Chiefs are not only going to look to a quarterback in the draft, I wouldn’t be surprised if they sign a veteran backup, too. Look at the last four year when they had Chase Daniel - and paid him well - and Foles. I bet they bring in a veteran in addition to a rookie.

The question now? What happens with Chase Daniel who his in Philly. I don’t think they can carry all those quarterbacks.
