Chiefs free agency rumors: Tracking the signings and news

New, comments

Welcome to day two of the 2017 NFL free agency period. The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t do anything on day one besides declining the option on QB Nick Foles which gave them nearly $7 million in cap space. The Chiefs don’t have a ton of money so we’re not expecting any A-list signings but I did think they could sign a mid-level type. We’ll see as we’re still in the first phase of free agency where the funny money is being handed out.

The Chiefs also tendered all three of their restricted free agents (S Daniel Sorensen, WR Albert Wilson, K Cairo Santos) which means they will likely keep them for now but we’ll see.

There is no Dontari Poe news. He remains a free agent. I’m wondering if we don’t see some traction on that today. There was one report that stated he could potentially do a one-year deal and try again next year.

Chiefs free agency updates and rumors below:

Chiefs free agents: NT Dontari Poe, DL Kendall Reyes, OL Mike Person, DL Jarvis Jenkins, LB Josh Mauga, RB Knile Davis

Chiefs restricted free agents: WR Albert Wilson, K Cairo Santos, S Daniel Sorensen

Chiefs exclusive rights free agents: WR Kenny Cook, FB Trey Millard

Chiefs team needs: QB, RB, LB

(Click here for definitions of restricted and exclusive rights free agents .... Tl;dr: the Chiefs basically control the rights of the RFAs and ERFAs)
