He didn’t win but Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid received one coach of the year vote for his work in the 2016-17 season. This according to Gregg Rosenthal who has the full voting breakdown:
Coach of the Year Votes:
— Gregg Rosenthal (@greggrosenthal) February 5, 2017
Garrett: 25
Belichick: 14
Gase: 6
Del Rio: 4
Reid: 1
That’s ... about right. Everyone is so obsessed with the Cowboys but they did start a rookie quarterback and running back and win the division. That’s pretty darn good. Bill Belichick should be a finalist every year. Jack Del Rio with more votes than Andy Reid. The Raiders are finally good again so we’ll see if Del Rio is still getting those votes four years down the line like Reid is.
Reid had a great season if it didn’t end up the way everyone wants. The Chiefs played without Jamaal Charles (again) and Justin Houston for most of the season. They had stars like Derrick Johnson injured. They played one of the toughest schedules in the NFL. They played in one of the best divisions in the NFL. Yet they still won 12 games and won the AFC West. Super Bowl or not, it’s a good regular season.
