Kansas City Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson tore his Achilles in December and hopes to be back nine months later in August for Chiefs training camp. This according to the Star’s Terez Paylor who ran into him in Houston.
DJ is optimistic he'll be running by OTAs and he hopes to be ready by training camp.

That feels very optimistic. This is his second Achilles in three years. Plus the Chiefs haven't exactly had any luck with injuries to star players lately. I would hope for DJ at some point next year but have a plan if he's not able to go.
Either way the Chiefs need to start thinking about life after DJ. He's under contract for two more seasons and wants to play that out.
