Eric Berry named Chiefs team MVP, Tyreek Hill rookie of the year

The Kansas City Chiefs announced a couple of their own awards on Sunday night at the 101 Awards with Eric Berry being named team MVP and Tyreek Hill being named rookie of the year. The Chiefs team MVP award is called the Derrick Thomas award while the rookie of the year is the Mack Lee Hill Award.

That Berry won (unanimously) is not a surprise. He was my pick for this award with a nod to Tyreek Hill, who scored, 12 touchdowns this year. Berry is a free agent with the Chiefs first deadline coming on Wednesday when they’ll need to apply the franchise tag or lose the ability to use it.

Tyreek’s rise has been incredible and not without its own controversy. I can’t remember many players who had such a physical advantage on the field. Tyreek is faster than anyone else on the field and it’s not close. Kudos to Andy Reid for knowing the best way to use him.
