There’s an advisory board that tells college draft prospects what round they’re likely to go in so that these players can decide whether to come out early or not. For Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes, it’s a second round grade.

I bring this up because the Kansas City Chiefs are drafting at the bottom of the first round and with other quarterbacks in the draft likely to go earlier - Deshaun Watson and Mitch Trubisky - it’s Mahomes that has been talked about around here the most.
I defer to Andy Reid on picking a quarterback high. He’s gotten the most out of plenty of quarterbacks and he’s been around a long time. He has the track record that I have some blind faith in his ability to not only pick the right guy but also coach him up.
The second round grade is close enough for the Chiefs to reasonably pick him at No. 27.
