Chiefs CB Marcus Peters suspended for Sunday’s game vs. Raiders

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has suspended cornerback Marcus Peters for this Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders, he announced Wednesday morning.

Peters threw a referee’s penalty flag into the stands during Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. The officials were calling a defensive holding penalty against Steve Nelson that Peters obviously disagreed with.

Peters went to the sideline, and though not ejected, jogged off the playing field.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported, “The Chiefs are suspending CB Marcus Peters without pay, in part, because of leaving the field of play while the game was on, sources say.”

Reid added that the decision was difficult, and he made it before meeting with the team’s leaders. He also said that Peters will not partake in practice this week.
