Chiefs vs. Broncos 2017 preview: 5 questions with the enemy

We talked with our pals (pals?) over at Mile High Report to preview Sunday’s Chiefs-Broncos game. You can find our Q&A below and you can find my answers to their questions here.

1. If you could take Paxton Lynch or Patrick Mahomes right now, who would it be?

Neither. Mahomes seemed like a boom/bust prospect out of college just like Lynch, so I think I'd rather wait and see what John Elway does in March with Kirk Cousins or in the 2018 NFL Draft with what should be a top five pick. You know, the last time he picked in the top five he landed Von Miller... didn't the Chiefs get Eric Fisher with their last top five pick?

2. Who is the Broncos best weapon on offense?

Is this a trick question? If the weapon is a potato gun, then the best weapon is C.J. Anderson. However, once the Broncos fall behind by a field goal or more we typically never see him with the ball again.

3. Is the Denver defense still elite?

I think so. When games are in doubt, the defense is just as stingy and tough to move the ball against as it always has been. The caveat is that the defense folds nearly every time the offense turns the ball over. It's been strange to watch. If any defense ever needed a functional quarterback on the other side of the ball to lead them it is this one.

4. Mitch Schwartz vs. Von Miller, who ya got?

I'll take Schwartz for about 85 percent of the snaps, but its that 15 percent that Miller will beat him that will make the highlight reels.

5. What's your score prediction and why?

Predicting a score in this game is impossible. Paxton Lynch is not a very good quarterback, which leads me to believe points will be a premium for Denver. If C.J. Anderson can find running room, then maybe the points come a little more easily. I don't think that Mahomes will be able to move the ball consistently against the Broncos defense, especially with a bunch of backups surrounding him on the field. Let's pick the Broncos to win this game 16-10 and screw themselves out of a top five pick next year.
