We don’t know who they will play yet but in Kansas City the focus isn’t on the Chiefs playoff opponent. It’s on the Chiefs next game in Denver when Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs backups could be playing.
We haven’t heard yet officially if Andy Reid is going to play the backups next week but if nothing is on the line then he usually sits the starters. He could do that again — only if the Chiefs are locked into a seed.
Chiefs fans clamoring for Mahomes next week isn’t a shot on Alex Smith. For me, it’s the best of both worlds. Your starters rest for the playoffs while you get to see your future. I love being in this position.
Some Chiefs fan and media reactions to the potential of Mahomes next week....
I'll go ahead and kick this one off with what everyone's already thinking.— Chris Sembower (@ChrisSembower) December 24, 2017
Will we see Pat Mahomes play in Denver next week?
The Chiefs are about to win a second straight division title for the first time in the history of Earth and I REALLY want to write about the backup quarterback playing next week.— Sam Mellinger (@mellinger) December 24, 2017
Chiefs win back-to-back division titles for the first time in 58 years and next week we get to see Pat Mahomes throw passes in Denver. Yippeeeee! pic.twitter.com/pwBsLe8qxs— Jeff Rosen (@jeff_rosen88) December 24, 2017
The real Christmas present in the Chiefs win is that now there’s hope we get a chance to see Mahomes next week.— Stephen Serda (@StephenSerda) December 24, 2017
