The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Miami Dolphins 29-13 to clinch the AFC West title. The Chiefs are headed to the playoffs for the third consecutive years and for the first time in franchise history they have won the AFC West in back to back seasons.
The Chiefs have a 4,000 yard passer this season (Alex Smith), two 1,000 yard receivers (Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill) and a 1,000 yard rusher (Kareem Hunt). What a season for the Chiefs, who finish up the regular season next week at the Broncos.
That game next week against the Broncos could feature Patrick Mahomes as the Chiefs could choose to sit their starters. Andy Reid has done that in the past so I would expect that.
Chiefs K Harrison Butker pulled a Cairo Santos and banked it off the upright for a FG to make it 29-13.

RB Kareem Hunt: 1,000 yards rushing
WR Tyreek Hill: 1,000 yards receiving
TE Travis Kelce: 1,000 yard receiving
Only the 2nd time in NFL history that has happened. #Chiefs
Chiefs FG makes it 26-13 early in the fourth quarter.
Marcus Peters forced his fifth turnover in the past seven quarters (two interceptions, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery).

Was this a catch? The refs say no.

The Chiefs started the second half with the ball and drove right down and scored what they thought was a Tyreek Hill TD. The refs ruled he didn’t catch a pass in the end zone so the Chiefs kicked a FG instead. 23-13, Chiefs.
Butker just tied Nick Lowery for the franchise record for field goals in a season (34)— Terez A. Paylor (@TerezPaylor) December 24, 2017
Another long pass to Tyreek Hill (33 yards) puts the Chiefs in FG range to take a 20-13 lead at halftime.
Ugh, the Chiefs defense can’t tackle. 17-13, Chiefs.
An embarrassing display of tackling by the Chiefs on that 65-yard Jakeem Grant touchdown— Terez A. Paylor (@TerezPaylor) December 24, 2017
Chiefs take 17-6 lead late in the second quarter on the heels of Kareem Hunt, who has 61 yards on 12 carries so far on the day.
Another brilliant deep throw by Alex Smith. Led Albert Wilson perfectly, sure TD, Wilson drops it. Would have been a 55 yard TD— James Palmer (@JamesPalmerTV) December 24, 2017
Dolphins kick another FG to make it 10-6 Chiefs in the second quarter.
Chiefs take 10-3 lead with a great 9-yard touchdown pass from Alex Smith and catch from Travis Kelce. Cool shot from a fan:
Just saw @tkelce catch this. Go Chiefs! pic.twitter.com/gkAApTHlE4— Merry Festivus (@fooside) December 24, 2017
Alex Smith threw a 53-yard DIME to Tyreek Hill.

The Dolphins get down the field and kick a field goal on their second offensive drive to tie the game at 3.
The Chiefs looked good but came up short on third and short. The Chiefs settled for a field goal to take a 3-0 lead.
Derrick Johnson (forced fumble) and Marcus Peters (fumble recovery) team up for a turnover on the Dolphins first drive of the game.
Wow...That was an impressive fumble recovery by Marcus Peters. He's the NFL's top cornerback right now IMO.— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) December 24, 2017
On Saturday Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill tweeted this:
Tough loss I will miss you pops R.I.P to the man who kept me grounded and level headed through the adversity, I love you— Ty Hill (@cheetah) December 23, 2017
