Welcome to gameday! The 7-6 Kansas City Chiefs are hosting the 7-6 Los Angeles Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday night with the AFC West lead on the line. The Chiefs, who started the season 5-0 and had a huge lead in the division, stumbled their way to losing six of seven before beating the Raiders last week.
The Chargers, meanwhile, are one of the hottest teams in the league after starting the season 0-4. Their offense with Philip Rivers and Keenan Allen is red hot and the defense has two of the best pass rushers in the game. They are a load.
The Chiefs are 1-point underdogs at home, which is surprising because the Chiefs have been favored often this season. They deserve to be underdogs with the way they’ve played lately.
This is close to a must-win for both teams. The Chiefs can lose this game and still win the division but if they win this game they will be in position to potentially clinch the division in Week 16. If they lose, they’ll be a game behind the Chargers and they’ll lose their tiebreaker with the division record (the Chiefs have one division loss right now, the Chargers have two).
