The Kansas City Chiefs playoff picture is looking different these days. After starting 5-0, the Chiefs have lost five of their last six games and we don’t know where this thing is headed. My head tells me that the Chiefs aren’t this bad and they turn it around to win a few more and make the playoffs but that’s a tall task for a team who hasn’t scored more than 17 points this month.
The Chiefs are currently in the No. 4 spot in the AFC playoffs. The first four spots here are the four division winners in the AFC and the Chiefs are leading the AFC West by one game right now (the Chargers and Raiders are 5-6). The next two spots are the Wild Card teams which is basically the next best records of the bunch.
If the playoffs started today, The Chiefs would be hosting the Jaguars at Arrowhead Stadium. I don’t think that’s a good matchup for the Chiefs because the Jaguars defense is really good. The Chiefs — at least this Chiefs team right now — couldn’t score on that Jaguars team. The Jaguars do have a bad quarterback and the Chiefs usually beat the bad quarterbacks (save the last few weeks).
The next closest team in the hunt is the 5-5 Ravens. The Chiefs main competition here they need to worry about comes from their own division, the Chargers and Raiders. If the Chiefs are going to make the playoffs, it’s probably going to be from winning the AFC West.
