Andy Reid not considering a quarterback change from Alex Smith to Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Buffalo Bills 16-10 Sunday, marking the fifth time the team has lost in the last six games. Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith, once considered an MVP candidate earlier this season, finished the first half 4 of 11 for just 41 yards.

The local Kansas City media asked Chiefs head coach Andy Reid whether or not he ever considered a quarterback change to rookie Patrick Mahomes during the middle of the game.

“No, I didn’t,” Reid answered.

Smith finished the game 23 of 36 for 199 yards, one touchdown and a game-ending interception on the Chiefs’ final drive. Smith has now thrown four interceptions in the last three games after not throwing a pick in the first eight.

Asked whether he would consider making a QB change moving forward, Reid stayed consistent.

“No,” he said. “That’s not where I’m at right now. There’s a couple other things that I’ve got to take care of.”
