Alex Smith says Chiefs know they can’t talk their way out of this slump

It’s been a long time since we could confidently say the Kansas City Chiefs were Super Bowl contenders and Alex Smith was an MVP candidate.

OK, it’s only been a few weeks since that went downhill but it feels like forever in a football season.

The question people were asking Chiefs players when they met the media this week is how they can get back on track. I liked Alex Smith’s answer where he said basically you have to go out and do it, not talk about it.

“I think this team is ready to get back to work and get back on track,” Alex said. “That’s where I am at. I think this team realizes we can’t talk our way out of this. You just have to go do it and that is the only remedy. I think we are anxious to do that. We know we are capable of playing a lot better than we have and looking forward to going out there and doing that.”

The Chiefs will have that shot against a Bills defense that is ranked 25th in the NFL and that has forced just one turnover in three games. The opportunity to get back on track is there.
