The Kansas City Chiefs are making moves! The team has announced they have signed free agent CB Darrelle Revis. I got the official announcement already. It’s real. Adam Schefter of ESPN said that the Chiefs were trying to sign him most of the season but he wouldn’t take the deal until now.

Chiefs GM Brett Veach and coach Andy Reid were quoted in the release.
“Darrelle is a proven player in this league and we are excited to add him to our secondary,” Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach said. “He’s had a Hall of Fame career and his leadership and playing experience will be valuable to our defense.”
“We’re excited to add Darrelle to the roster,” Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid said. “He has experience and familiarity with Bob Sutton’s defense, he’s a team guy and we feel like a player of his caliber can help our football team.”

Revis appeared in 15 games for the Jets in 2016 but hasn’t been on a team this year. This is obviously a name signing because Revis was at one time the best cornerback in the game. He’s now 32 years old and the Chiefs are hoping he still has something left down the stretch. As Andy Reid said in the release, he does have familiarity with Bob Sutton’s defense so that’s something.
Chiefs DC Bob Sutton and new CB Darrelle Revis were together with the Jets for six years (2007-12), so the scheme should be familiar for Revis.

Does he take the No. 2 cornerback spot opposite Marcus Peters right away? Do they take a few weeks to work him in? I’m curious to see how this turns out.
