How good has the Kansas City Chiefs offense been? Even with a couple of offensive stinkers where they scored 13 and 17 points, the Chiefs offense is ranked fifth in the NFL averaging 28.1 points per game.
Matt from the Chiefs website gave some context to those numbers. They are on pace to be the fourth best in franchise history just behind the Dick Vermeil era. The 2003 is the top scoring team in franchise history with 484 points. This year’s Chiefs team is on pace for 449 points.
The Chiefs are in a similar boat in net yards. They’re on pace for the fourth highest total in franchise history and even higher than the 2003 Chiefs who we often say is the greatest offense in Chiefs history. That 2003 defense was bad (yes, worse than this defense) and that was the downfall in the no punt game in the playoffs.
Check out Matt’s piece at Chiefs dot com. There are a bunch of cool records the Chiefs will approach. For example, Kareem Hunt is 321 yards away from tying Joe Delaney’s rookie rushing record of 1,121 yards.
