Arrowheadlines: Tyler Bray says Jon Gruden would be a good Tennessee football head coach

Giants are double-digit underdogs -- at home; how did they get here? | ESPN

The Giants have been double-digit underdogs at home four times in the past 39 years. Once was against what was considered the greatest regular-season team of all time (the 2007 New England Patriots), another was against the undefeated Denver Broncos in 1998. The other two were during awful Giants seasons in 1980 (4-12) and 1978 (6-10).

Chiefs' Travis Kelce in an excellent spot against the Giants in Week 11 | Numberfire

The Giants have struggled against tight ends all season, inexplicably allowed a touchdown to a tight end in every game this season.

Kansas City Chiefs need to be in playoff mode now | ESPN

It's going to be difficult for the Chiefs to blow their lead and not win the division championship, even considering how they've played over the past four games. The Raiders, who have upcoming games against the Patriots, Cowboys and Eagles, plus a December game against the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium, have a decidedly more difficult remaining schedule than Kansas City. The Chiefs have one game remaining against an opponent with a record above .500, that being a Week 12 game at Arrowhead against the Buffalo Bills, currently 5-4.

Jared Allen to return to Minnesota for Ring of Honor induction | West Central Tribune

As a Viking, Allen made four of his five career Pro Bowls and earned three of his four career all-pro selections. Those would seem to be worthy credentials for the Ring of Honor.

"That would be phenomenal," Allen said. "It'd be great. That's other people's decision, but, yeah, that would be great to make it up there with all those other phenomenal players."

Will Shields wants to get the next generation moving | The Kansas City Star

Now, Shields hopes to convince a younger generation about the value and necessity of living healthy early in life through a new foundation, Will To Do It.

The nonprofit’s humble beginnings were a free football camp, paid for with a grant from the NFL, last summer, but Shields’ ambition for foundation is much more broad than that.

Will To Do It’s mission got a big boost last week when Aetna presented Shields with a $7,500 check for a Get ’Em Active camp this summer at 68’s Inside Sports.

Inside the Numbers: Eli's Iron Man streak reaches new mark | Giants.com

Manning will make this 209th consecutive regular-season start when the Giants host the Kansas City Chiefs in MetLife Stadium. He will break a tie with his brother, Peyton, and own the second-longest starting streak by a quarterback in NFL history. He will also move ahead of Derrick Brooks and own the sixth-longest streak by any player since the 1970 merger:

Chiefs Kingdom Once Again Ranks Among Best Fanbases in NFL

Overall, the Chiefs rank No. 1 in the league in Facebook engagement, which is arguably the biggest and most important social media platform out there. The Chiefs also show well in terms of engagement on Twitter (No. 4) and Instagram (No. 8). And to go one step further, the Chiefs also rank No. 1 on Facebook and No. 3 on Twitter in number of “shares per fan.”

Tyler Bray: Jon Gruden would be "good option" as Tennessee head coach | Arrowhead Addict

Gruden is also a good friend of Andy Reid, the Chiefs head coach, which would give another indirect connection to the Chiefs if Gruden were going to go for the job. Then again, who knows if Gruden is even interested? So far he denies any interest in the job, per some reports, and Gruden has been turning down either direct job offers or rumors of such for a long time now. Gruden remains a hot name every offseason for at least one team, but it begs the question of how much is really left?

Eagles stay atop AP Pro32 poll; Chiefs remain in No. 7 spot | AP

Despite a week off, the Eagles, one of two teams on a seven-game winning streak, maintained their top spot in the latest AP Pro 32 poll. The Chiefs also held firm to their No. 7 position after taking last week off.

Looking ahead: Kansas City Chiefs (6-3) at New York Giants (1-8) | Northjersey.com

Chiefs LB Tamba Hali. The five-time Pro Bowler was activated from the physically unable to perform list two weeks ago and he made his season debut against the Cowboys. The former Penn State and Teaneck star recorded one tackle in 23 snaps, but he should see even more action in his homecoming against the Giants.

Kansas City Chiefs vs New York Giants Betting Odds and Pick | Odds Shark

The total opened at 43.5 and bettors should seriously consider the OVER. The total has gone OVER in five of the Giants’ last seven games despite their horrendous offense. The Giants are ranked 27th in the league at 16.67 points per game and luckily for OVER bettors, the Chiefs hover around 28 points per game (ranked fifth). Look for KC to do most of the heavy lifting in the scoring department in this one.

In a first for sports, Aramark, Chiefs offer compostable peanut bags | Kansas City Business Journal

Aramark, which reports that it sells 15,000 bags of peanuts every season at Arrowhead, said team officials approached the food vendor to find ways to comply with its "Extra Yard for the Environment" initiative, which is the team's waste reduction effort.

After 18 months of development, the result is a peanut bag made of compostable materials that eliminates the need to send it to the landfill. The cost, $5.75, is the same as a regular bag of peanuts made of a nonrecyclable material.

According to fivethirtyeight, a statistics-driven analytical website, the Raiders entered Week 9 with a 4 percent chance of qualifying this season for the playoffs. Mellinger Minutes likes lunch (and Royals, Chiefs, etc.) | The Kansas City Star

But I actually do think the Chiefs will finish 6-1 or even 7-0. I know I’m going against the recent trend here, but I think the Chiefs will be better these next seven weeks than they’ve been the last, say, eight.

I believe they’re getting healthier, which should show up especially well on the offensive line and with the pass rush, depending on Justin Houston. I also think they’ll be able to stay focused week to week. Even so, they’re going to need help to get that bye. Let’s put the odds at 27.8 percent.

Rickey Hatley replaces Daniel Ross on Chiefs practice squad | Arrowhead Addict

On Tuesday, the Chiefs officially signed Rickey Hatley, another defensive line prospect, to take the place of Ross. What’s interesting is that Hatley was released back in mid-September in order for the team to sign Ross in the first place, so things have come full circle.

NFL Predictions Week 11: Top Odds, Picks, Projections for Every Game on Schedule | Bleacher Report

Vegas favors the Chiefs at -13.5, and it's not a stretch of the imagination in the least to think that Kansas City can cover that spread.

The Chiefs offense is averaging 28.1 points per game, while the Giants are barely able to put up 16.

Can Andy Reid get Kansas City Chiefs to recapture earlier success | ESPN

"We're sitting here at 6-3. We're in good shape. We didn't finish up before the bye very well ... but I like this team, and I like their work ethic. I like the way they battled through the first nine games. Listen, there's room for us as coaches and as players to improve. I get kind of fired up about that."

The schedule is in Kansas City's favor. The rest of the season, the Chiefs face only one team that entered Week 10 with a winning record. They played four such opponents in their first nine games.
