The Martellus Bennett saga is ... weird. He was hurt with the Packers, then he wasn’t and then he was depending on who you asked. They cut him and he was claimed by New England where he’s now playing for the Patriots.
Did the Chiefs have any interest in claiming Bennett off of waivers?
“We looked at that,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “It was a potential. He is in a good place, it worked out good for him.”
Interesting. Of course as a fan who knows Bennett mostly on name recognition (and a few Patriots games last year) I would be interested in him too.
The Chiefs do have five years invested into their current No. 2 tight end Demetrius Harris. He plays a lot of snaps for the Chiefs each week in their multiple tight end sets. Bennett is clearly more established in the league but it would still be a little surprising to me if they made they moved away from Harris (whom nobody has any opinions on).
