Chiefs’ Andy Reid says Deshaun Watson was “a real pleasure” before the draft

We know the name Deshaun Watson around here because many fans wanted the Kansas City Chiefs to draft him. The Chiefs worked out a bunch of quarterbacks before the 2017 draft, including Watson.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid was asked this week about Watson and what makes him good.

“He’s a great player,” Reid said via quotes from the Chiefs. “What he did at Clemson was what we thought he would do here. But he’s a tremendous football player. He’s got some good players there around him and he’s utilizing them. As good of a player as he is, he’s an even better person. He’s a great kid. He was a real pleasure to deal with before the draft.”

The Chiefs met with him before the draft. They moved up to the 10th pick and had a choice between Watson and Patrick Mahomes. They were picked two picks apart so we’re going to be comparing them for the rest of their careers.

I’m not getting any wet feet over Mahomes after watching Watson’s hot start to the season. Andy Reid is the real x-factor here. If Reid were with Watson, I would probably take Watson over Mahomes. Since Reid is with Mahomes, I would probably still take Mahomes over Watson.
